Update: Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Detected in North Dakota

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been detected in North Dakota. The NDSU-VDL is now activated as an avian influenza testing laboratory by the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN). View USDA-APHIS updates on HPAI here.

Any commercial poultries or backyard flocks with multiple sick birds or high death loss should contact the state veterinarian’s office ASAP (701-328-2655). Contact with the state veterinarian is imperative to ensure proper samples are procured by the submitter and that all foreign animal disease (FAD) procedures are followed.
