Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected in several U.S. commercial poultries, backyard flocks, and wild birds. View the USDA-APHIS news release here.
Any commercial poultries or backyard flocks with multiple sick birds or high death loss should contact the state veterinarian’s office ASAP (701-328-2655). As a level-2 National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) laboratory, the NDSU-VDL is prepared to respond to testing needs; however, contact with the state veterinarian is imperative to ensure proper samples are procured by the submitter and that all foreign animal disease (FAD) procedures are followed.
