Congratulations, Dr. Steichen!

Congratulations to Dr. Quynn Steichen for achieving the status of Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP). ACVP is the American Veterinary Medical Association-recognized certifying body for veterinary pathologists.

This accomplishment comes after three years of rigorous residency training at the North Dakota State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (NDSU VDL). ACVP board certification requires proficiency in general, gross, and microscopic pathology, along with a deep knowledge base of diseases in all animal species. Dr. Steichen is the first person to complete residency training at the NDSU VDL.

After undergraduate and graduate studies at NDSU, Dr. Steichen earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. Just prior to residency, she was owner and sole practitioner of Larkota Veterinary Services in eastern North Dakota.

As a veterinary pathologist, Dr. Steichen is committed to improving all animal and human health. However, with her master’s degree in beef nutrition, Dr. Steichen is particularly passionate about food animal diseases.

She remains at the NDSU VDL as a diagnostic pathologist and necropsy section head. Dr. Steichen expands the number of veterinary specialists at the NDSU VDL to three boarded anatomic veterinary pathologists and one boarded veterinary toxicologist.
