About NDSU VDL

The North Dakota State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is an AAVLD accredited, full service laboratory offering toxicology, bacteriology, virology, molecular diagnostic, clinical and anatomic pathology, parasitology and serology testing services to veterinarians and the general public.

The primary mission of the laboratory is to provide reliable testing and diagnostic support services to veterinarians, animal owners, producers and the public health sector. The laboratory is a level II member of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN).

We are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. An after-hours depository is available for samples and small carcasses that do not require a hoist. The NDSU VDL’s after hours and emergency response is limited to significant death loss events and high consequence diseases that are reportable to the North Dakota Board of Animal Health (ND BoAH). The lab performs emergency and weekend service in consultation with the ND BoAH. We welcome all comments on the services we provide. If you have questions or comments, please contact us.
